Introduction
This section describes the BIOS which has been specifically adapted for the MIC-
3397. With the AMI UEFI BIOS Setup Utility, you can modify BIOS settings and con-
trol the special features of the MIC-3397. The Setup program uses a number of
menus for making changes and turning the special features on or off. This chapter
describes the basic navigation of the MIC-3397 setup screens.

The BIOS ROM has a built-in Setup program that allows users to modify the basic
system configuration. This type of information is stored in battery-backed CMOS so it
retains the Setup information when the power is off.
2.2
BIOS Setup
The MIC-3397 Series system has AMI BIOS built in, with a CMOS SETUP utility that
allows users to configure required settings or to activate certain system features.
The CMOS SETUP saves the configuration in the CMOS RAM of the motherboard.
When the power is turned off, the battery on the board supplies the necessary power
to preserve the CMOS RAM. But there is a CMOS backup mechanism in the MIC-
3397 to protect the user's personal settings, which allows final BIOS setup informa-
tion to be retained always except for date/time and user password, which are reset
when CMOS battery is removed, or password only erased using the clear jumper.
