the main PCB is off. Do not attempt to continue if mains supply is still present
within the control.
Remove the battery from the cabinet after disconnecting its leads.
Telephone Line Wiring
A connection is provided on the Vista 10 UK for an ex-directory standard PSTN
telephone line. This connection must be made to an NTE5 master socket (line box).
No other telephones should be connected to the same telephone line.
The connection to the telephone line terminals must only be made by an approved
installer. The wiring must be mechanically protected external to the cabinet and
must enter as shown in the cable routing diagram. It must not enter the cabinet by
any other point. The cable must be clamped and trimmed as shown.
This unit is not suitable for connection to a pay-phone or shared service line.
This unit is not suited for use with PABX or other types of external exchange. It is
intended to interface directly with the PSTN.
This unit is suitable for communication to PSTN lines with loop disconnect (pulse
dial) and multi-frequency (DTMF) signals.
This unit has been approved for the use of the following facilities:-

Auto calling

Auto answering
Any other usage will invalidate the approval of the apparatus, it then ceases to con-
form to the standards against which the approval was granted
The telephone cable must conform to the requirements to BT specification CW1308.
This cable uses a single strand conductor of 0.5mm CSA and the wires are configured
in twisted pairs.
A suitable cable from RS Components is code 368-413 (2 pair cable). Alarm or any
other type of cable must not be used.
Communications must only be made to an NTE5 master socket (line box) user port
or an extension correctly connected to the master socket.
Instructions given in OFTEL wiring code Part 1 must be followed.
Where terminals use insulation displacement techniques, a special terminal tool must
be used.
The wiring call code set out in OFTEL wiring code Part 1 must be followed, ie:-
Terminal A - White wire with blue rings - NTE5 terminal 5.
Terminal B - Blue wire with white rings - NTE5 terminal 2.
Terminal BC - Orange wire with white rings - NTE5 terminal 3
