8 Using the UHF RFID scanner
l
Scan Timeout (in seconds
): Set the scanner to stop scanning within a set number of seconds.
Set this to 0 if you do not want the scanner to time out.
l
Refresh Rate
: Set this to 0 (the default) to prevent duplicate tags from being reported. If you
want duplicate tags to be reported, set this to a value from 1‐10, depending on the number of
times per seconds you want the scanner to read and report the duplicate tags.
l
Tag Population Size
: This setting gives the scanner an indication of the number of tags it is
likely to read in a session. The scanner is then optimized for the selected population size. The
default is Small (less than 100 tags).
l
Tag filtering
:
l
Filter Mask
: If required, you can set a filter mask so that only tags that match the filter are
scanned.
l
Filter Memory Bank
: If you set a
Filter Mask
, you can select to check it against a specific
part of the tag (that is, a specific memory bank). The default is EPC.
l
Tag Mask Address
: If you set a
Filter Mask
, you can specify where in the tag data the
scanner starts to filter. Set to 0 (the default) if you do not want to specify a tag mask
address.
l
Select Non‐matching tasks
: If this option is selected, tags that DO NOT match the filter are
reported. If this option is not selected, tags that match the filter are reported.
Tag Data Options

l
Include RSSI Stats
: Select if you want to include the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator)
when a tag is read.
Hardware Trigger

to read tags into programs such as Microsoft Excel® or Word. ACURA recommends that you only
use this method to read tags if you do not have a suitable API.
l
Trigger Mode
: Select the required mode (
Hold
, which is the default and recommended option,
or
Toggle
) for the hardware button assigned as the RFID tag scanner.
l

button (or both) as the
