Seat Belts
The automatic retractors allow you to
move freely while keeping adequate
tension on the seat belt. These retrac-
tors will lock up fully during a
collision or sudden stop. They will
not lock up if you just pull on the seat
belt suddenly while sitting still.
Do not install comfort clips, shoulder
belt pads, or any other commercially-
available accessory on your car's seat
belts. These accessories reduce the
effectiveness of the seat belts,
increasing your chance of injury.
To unlatch the seat belt, push the red
PRESS button on the buckle. The
seat belt will retract out of your way.
If it doesn't, pull it out and check for
twists or kinks in the belt.

Inspection
The condition of the seat belts is
important to the safety of you and
your passenger. You should inspect
them regularly for frayed webbing,
cuts, and wear. Check that the latch
mechanisms work smoothly and
cannot be pulled apart after they
latch.
Replacement
Have the seat belt replaced if:
The belt material is cut, punctured,
frayed, burned, etc.
The buckle does not latch or
release smoothly and easily, or
does not stay latched.
The retractor does not work
properly.
