Option 1- From the Desktop:

Drag the Drive's icon to the Trash. After the icon disappears from the

Desktop you can safely turn off the Drive.

Option 2 - From within the Finder:

Locate the Drive icon in the Sidebar. Click the eject symbol next to the

icon. After the icon disappears you can safely turn off the Drive.

Whether you are using a mac or a pC…

When you shut down your computer the Drive will unmount automatically.
