This port can be setted as:

Slave
(default setting). In this configuration the port allows to connect
one device using Modbus RTU (ABB protocol) or Modbus RTU
(Sunspec protocol) communication protocol.
Is possible to connect only one device to the RS485-MAIN
-
Master
. In this configuration the port is used for connecting
supported accessories (like energy meter, VSN800 weather
station, etc); in this case data from accessories will be logged
and transferred to the cloud by inverter itself (master mode).
To know how to connect the accessories to the RS485 terminal block
refer to accessory product manual or contact ABB customer support.
When an accessory is connected to the RS485-MAIN port it must be
added and configured into the “Device Acquisition” list on the integrated
Web User Interface (refer to chapter “Web User Interface”).
In both the configurations the connection to the RS485-MAIN is made on
the dedicated connector located on the Interposer board
