5 .4 .2 Install a new parallel UPS system
1. Before installing the new parallel UPS
system, prepare the input/output Wire,
circuit breakers and a main maintenance
mechanical switch or static switch.
2. Provide independent battery racks for each
UPS.
3. Connect the input lines.
4. Switch on the input circuit breaker of the
parallel machine UPS.
5. Holding down “ON/ENTER” button
Figure 5.4.2-1 on a UPS in the system for
more than one second will switch the system
to online mode.
6. Check the output voltage of each UPS
separately, and check whether the output
voltage difference between the units of the
parallel machine system is less than 0.5V. If
the difference is greater than 0.5V, please
contact your local ABB office or an ABB
authorized agent.
7. If the difference in the output voltage is less
than 0.5 V, switch off the input circuit
breaker so that the UPS is off. Connect the
output lines.

8. Remove the cover plate on the UPS parallel
port and connect it one by one with parallel
cable (figure 5.4.2-2) and current share
cable
(figure 5.4.2-3) for each UPS and
make sure the cable is reliably connected
(Figure 5.4.2-4). Current share cable and
parallel cable instruction as below:
9. Repeat step 3-8. After these operations, the
system will work normally in parallel mode
(Figure 5.4.2-5).
NOTE
PLEASE USE SEPARATE PDU MODULE TO
SETUP THE INPUT/OUTPUT/BATTERY/
GROUND WIRE CONNECTION FOR THE
SIZE LIMITATION OF UPS CONNECTORS.
NOTE
THE SELECTIONS FOR COLOR OF WIRES
SHOULD BE FOLLOWED BY THE LOCAL
