Inspect the spark plug. Replace it if
the electrode is worn or fouled, or if
the insulator is cracked or chipped.
Measure the spark plug electrode
gap with a wire-type feeler gauge.
Correct the gap, if necessary, by
carefully bending the side electrode.
The gap should be:

Seat spark plug in position; thread in
by hand to prevent cross-threading.
If reinstalling a used spark plug,
tighten 1/8-1/4 turn after the spark
plug seats.
If installing a new spark plug, tighten
1/2 turn after the spark plug seats.
NOTE:
An improperly tightened
spark plug will become very hot and
could damage the engine.
MAINTENANCE
NOTICE:
Be careful not to cross-thread the
spark plug. Cross-threading will
seriously damage the product.
SPARK ARRESTER SERVICE
The spark arrester must be serviced
every 100 hours to keep it functioning as
designed.

muffler will be very hot. Allow the muffler
to cool before servicing spark arrester.
Remove the two screws, and remove
the tail pipe and spark arrester.
Use a brush to remove carbon
deposits from the spark arrester
screen. Be careful to avoid damaging
the screen.
The spark arrester must be free of
