suffix, and that fewer SMA connectors are provided on platforms with the SpaceWire connectors on the rear (i.e.
those with the “-R” suffix). The Synchronised Outputs mechanism is an optional feature on the DSI.
Each waveform recorder can be triggered by an event from one or more of the DSI’s SpaceWire ports (not just its
own), as well as by the lifting of the output synchronisation barrier (see section 12, “Option SO - Synchronized
Outputs”) and by signals received via the SMA connectors on the rear panel.
Some of these triggering capabilities must be specifically enabled using the Event Reporting option (see section 8,
“Option ER - Event / Error Reporting”).
The SMA Pulse generator can be triggered by any combination of the events listed above for the waveform
recorders. The triggering selection for the pulse generator is made as if it is port 0 - see the examples below.
When a selected trigger is seen, a 1.5 V active-high pulse of duration 1 μs is output on SMA connector pair J5-J6.
These outputs form part of a 50Ω transmission line that must be terminated at each end with a 50Ω terminator.
The waveform triggers should be selected using the
/es
command-line parameter to the
SpWIO
program, or
using the
EtherSpaceLink_EW_source()
C-language API function. See the respective
SpWIO
or C-
language Application Programming Interface manual for details.
The trigger selections for the waveform recorder and pulse generator modules are thus:
