The DHCP client configuration is supported only on VLAN interfaces.
■
When multiple VLAN interfaces with the same MAC address use DHCP for IP
address acquisition via a relay agent, the DHCP server cannot be a Windows
2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server.
■
You are not recommended to enable both the DHCP client and the DHCP
Snooping on the same device. Otherwise, DHCP Snooping entries may fail to
be generated, or the DHCP client may fail to obtain an IP address.
Introduction to DHCP
Client
With the DHCP client enabled on an interface, the interface will use DHCP to
obtain configuration parameters such as an IP address from the DHCP server.
For the Switch 4800G (operating as DHCP clients), the vendor and device
information contained in Option 60 of DHCP requests is not configurable; instead,
it is determined by the application program of the switches. Refer to Table 62 for
different information added in Option 60 based on device models.
