This command has no default configuration.

Command Mode

Privileged EXEC mode

User Guidelines

The location of a file system dictates the format of the source or
destination URL.

The entire copying process may take several minutes and differs from
protocol to protocol and from network to network.

*.prv and *.sys files cannot be copied.

Understanding Invalid Combinations of Source and Destination

Some invalid combinations of source and destination exist. Specifically,
you cannot copy if one of the following conditions exist:

The source file and destination file are the same file.

xmodem

: is the destination file. The source file can be copied to

null

: only.

// is the source file and destination file on the same copy.

The following table describes copy characters:

xmodem:

Source for the file from a serial
connection that uses the Xmodem
protocol.

null:

Null destination for copies or files. A
remote file can be copied to null to
determine its size.

Source or Destination

For network transfers, indicates that the copy process is taking place. Eac
point indicates successful transfer of ten packets (512 bytes each).

For network transfers, indicates that the copy process timed out. General
in a row means that the copy process may fail.
