Typical Scenarios

Your existing telephone wiring usually depends on your region. We describe three typical installation scenarios
here.

3.4.1 Installa

t

ion Scenario A

You want to install the VES-1012 in an environment where there are no previously installed MDFs. There is no
phone service and you want to install the VES-1012 for data-access only. No connection from the Telco-50

CO

port is necessary.

You may connect using an MDF or attach RJ-11 connectors to the non-VES-1012 side of the Telco cable and then
connect to a VDSL modem directly.

Procedure To Connect To An MDF

Step 1.

Follow the pin assignments shown in the

Appendix – Pin Assignments

to wire a Telco cable (not

supplied in the package) to a Telco-50 connector (supplied).

Step 2.

Connect the Telco-50 connector end of the cable to the Telco-50 port labeled

USER

on the VES-1012

front panel.
