Chapter 3 Services
VLAN trunking is used for VLAN connection between different
devices. In this mode, one port or one group of ports bear
multiple VLANs. Multiple VLANs of various devices can inter-
connect to the same VLAN at the opposite through one port or
one group of ports.
The principle is to make different 802.1Q tags on one port or
one group of ports to identify various VLAN packets, imple-
menting VLAN interconnection in the global network.
PVLAN
PVLAN has two kinds of ports:

PVLAN port
PVLAN ports cannot interwork with each other but can inter-
work with other common ports in the PVLAN. They are used as
subscriber ports.

Common port
Common ports can interwork with all the ports in the PVLAN.
They are used as uplink ports.
In the basic
+VLAN forwarding mode, one VLAN forms one
broadcast domain. The broadcast packets of one VLAN or unknown
unicast packets are broadcast to all ports of this VLAN. Generally,
the division of VLAN is related to the assignment of
addresses.
To make efficient use of IP addresses, it is required to divide large-
scale VLANs.
With the consideration of the subscriber access data flow and data
security, it is required to have as few as users in a broadcast do-
main, even one broadcast domain for one user, to completely iso-
late users.
To implement the two objectives, one VLAN requires two roles: the
network-side interface and the user-side interface. The network-
side interface belongs to the same broadcast domain with all users.
The user-side interface belongs to the same broadcast domain with
the network-side interface, isolated with other ports.
FSAP 9800 uses PVLAN to implement the application described
above.
MVLAN
has two meanings:

MVLAN corresponds to the basic VLAN which is used for multi-
cast service.
�
MVLAN is a logical entity managed by the DSLAM multicast.
FSAP 9800 supports multiple MVLANs. An MVLAN contains three
management parameters:

Management group set
The management group set is a list of IP addresses that can
be managed by an MVLAN. If the requested multicast address
is not in the management group set, the user cannot obtain
the relevant services provided by the multicast address. The
management group sets of different MVLANs cannot be over-
lapped.

Multicast source port
A multicast source port is used for uplink multicast router or for
multicast service cascade in an MVLAN. Essentially, the multi-
cast source port is a special port performing the above func-
