SAFETY FIRST

Introduction

Please read this BoSS Plus guide carefully. Please note that diagrams are for illustrative purposes only.

Standard BoSS tower user guides are available to download from our website at www.youngmangroup.com.
This guide explains the generic methodology for safe assembly of a prefabricated tower scaffold system and

should be used in conjunction with the appropriate corresponding BoSS; scheme drawing, EN1004 mobile

access tower user guide and product datasheet.

BoSS Plus prefabricated tower scaffolds are light-weight access platforms used throughout the building and construction

industry for both indoor and outdoor access solutions where a stable and secure platform is required. Ideal for

maintenance and installation work or short-term access, the highly versatile towers provide a strong working platform for

a variety of heights.

The law requires that personnel erecting, dismantling, altering or inspecting towers must be competent. Assemblers of

this BoSS Plus product must have a copy of this guide and copy of the appropriate corresponding scheme drawing.

For further information on the use of mobile access and working tower visit our website at www.youngmangroup.com or

consult the PASMA website at www.pasma.co.uk.

If you need further information, design advice, additional guides or any other help with this product, please contact

Safe Use

- Check that all components are on site, undamaged and that they are functioning correctly. Damaged or incorrect

components must never be used.

- Ensure the ground on which the prefabricated scaffold tower is to be erected and moved on is capable of supporting the

tower.

- Detailed safe conditions of use can be found on the appropriate corresponding scheme drawing, which includes:

Type of prefabricated tower scaffold

Number of working levels

Maximum load per bay

Maximum number of persons on the structure at any one time

Maximum number of persons for assembly

Rated for External or Internal Use (i.e. exposed to wind or not)

Maximum wind load

Maximum foot load

Tie loads (where applicable)

- Before each use:

Check that each prefabricated tower scaffold is complete and correctly assembled.

Check that the prefabricated tower scaffold is vertical and make any adjustments as required.

Check that no environment changes will affect the safe use of the structure.

- Adjustable legs should only be used for levelling.

- Do not use ladders, steps, boxes or similar, to gain additional working height.

- Prefabricated tower scaffolds are not designed to be lifted or suspended.

- Do not abuse equipment.

- Beware of horizontal forces (e.g. power tools) which could generate instability.

Maximum horizontal force per working bay = 30kg

- Tools and materials should be lifted using a reliable lifting material (e.g. a strong rope), employing a reliable knot (e.g.

clove hitch), to ensure safe fastening and always lift within the footprint of the prefabricated tower scaffold.

- Ensure that the safe working load of the supporting decks and the prefabricated tower scaffold is not exceeded.

Youngman Group strongly advises against the mixing of tower components because of the potential safety risks for users

and their inability to rely upon the manufacturers Product Liability Insurance in the event of an accident occurring as a

result of mixing components from different manufacturers. For more information visit

www.youngmangroup.com/about/mix-match-components.

- It is recommended that prefabricated scaffold towers should be tied to a solid structure when left unattended.

- Safe working loads, normally expressed in kN/m², are expressed below in kg per bay based on square metre area of

the working platform:

1450mm Wide Bay - Load Rating

Class 1

0.75 kN/m²

Class 2
