4.2 Piping Connections
Indoor unit connection
Apply refrigerant oil thinly on half union and flare nut.
When connecting, first aim the half union at the center of the flair nut. Tighten the flair nut for the first 3-4
rotations by hand. Connecting the gas pipe first makes completing the task easier.
Use the tightening torque table as a guide for tightening the flare nuts. Tighten using two wrenches (as shown in
the illustration above). Do not force the flare nut when tightening, as it may damage the threads or cause
refrigerant leakage.
Outdoor unit connection
Connect the piping to the stop valves of the outdoor unit using the same methods as the Indoor unit connection.
Flaring work of the piping
Gas leakage is caused most often by incorrect flaring work. Make sure you carefully check the flare joint before
connecting with the half union or stop valve. In case of an existing defect on the flare joint, perform the flaring work
correctly using the following procedures:
Cut the pipe with a pipe cutter and remove any burs.
Insert a flare nut onto the pipe before flaring the end.
