a. Remove the bolt

b. Remove the tailpipe

by pulling it out of
the muffler.
c. Tap the tailpipe lightly with a soft-face ham-
mer or suitable tool, then use a wire brush
to remove any carbon deposits from the
spark arrester portion of the tailpipe and
inside of the tail pipe housing.
d. Insert the tailpipe into the muffler and align
the bolt holes.
e. Insert the bolt

and tighten it.
f. Remove the purging bolt

g. Start the engine and rev it up approximately
twenty times while momentarily creating
exhaust system back pressure by blocking
the end of the muffler with a shop towel.
h. Stop the engine and allow the exhaust pipe
to cool.
i. Install the purging bolt
3
and tighten it.
