To prevent the cooling water passages
from becoming frozen when the ambi-
ent temperature is 5°C (41°F) or below,
tilt the outboard motor up after it has
been stopped 30 seconds or more.

Procedure for tilting up

Tilting up when using the tilt support shaft
1.

Move the remote control lever to the
neutral position.

2.

Push the “

” (up) side of the power trim

and tilt switch to fully tilt the outboard
motor up.

3.

If you have the tilt support shaft, install
the tilt support shaft. For information on
installing the tilt support shaft, see page
34.

4.

Once the outboard motor is supported
with the tilt support shaft, push the “

”

(down) side of the power trim and tilt
switch to retract the trim rods.
