4. Starter relay

Remove the starter relay from the starter
relay coupler on the wire harness.

Connect the pocket tester (

Ω ×

1) and bat-

tery (DC 12 V) to the starter relay coupler as
shown.

Positive battery terminal

→

brown

Negative battery terminal

→

blue/white

Positive tester probe

→

red

Negative tester probe

→

red/white

Does the starter relay have continuity
between red and red/white?

YES

Replace the starter
relay.

Properly connect or
repair the starting
system wiring.

The starting sys-
tem circuit is OK.

7. Wiring

Check the entire starting system wiring.
Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM”.

Is the starting system wiring properly con-
nected and without defects?

YES

5. Main switch

Check the main switch for continuity.
Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES”.

Is the main switch OK?

YES

Replace the main
switch.

6. Start switch

Check the start switch for continuity.
Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES”.

Is the start switch OK?

YES

Replace the right
handlebar switch.
