Playing the Riyaz
This instrument provides 30 phrase patterns (consistin g of several measures) usin g the
authentic Tabla and Tanpura sounds with looped playback. By usin g the Riyaz function,
try out the conventional Indian music—chan g in g keys and creatin g dynamic sound
variations by rotatin g the Knobs.

Press the [RIYAZ] button, then use the
dial to select the desired Riyaz pattern.
Refer to the Riyaz list on the panel of this instr u -
ment.

Press the [START/STOP] button to start
looped playback.
At first, only the Ta b la so u nd w ill play b ack. D u r-
ing play b ack, enjoy creating so u nd v ariations v ia
the follo w ing operations.

Turnin g on/off Tabla tracks 1 and 2 individu-
ally
Ta b la 1 feat u res the lo w er pitched part w hile Ta b la 2
feat u res the higher pitched part.

Addin g the Tanpura phrase and chan g in g it
from 1–4
At first, press any of the [TANPURA 1]–[TANPURA
4] bu ttons to add a Tanp u ra phrase. Next, press
another Tanp u ra bu tton to change the phrase. Yo u
can enjoy fo u r phrase v ariations, w hich are shared
among all Riyaz patterns. To t u rn off the Tanp u ra
so u nd, press the Tanp u ra bu tton of the c u rrent n u m-
b er.


Press the [ASSIGN] bu tton se v eral times to select
“1,” then rotate Kno b A to adj u st the v ol u me b alance
b et w een the so u nds of Ta b la 1 (lo w -pitched part)
and Ta b la 2 (high-pitched part), or rotate Kno b B to
adj u st the v ol u me b alance b et w een the so u nds of
the Ta b la and Tanp u ra.
Adjustin g the Tempo / Transposin g playback
Press the [ASSIGN] bu tton se v eral times to select
“2,” then rotate Kno b A to adj u st the play b ack tempo,
or rotate Kno b B to transpose the play b ack key in
semitones.

Press the [START/STOP] button to stop
playback.

• You can confirm the current key and tempo value on the
display. To call up the current tempo value, press the
TEMPO [-] or [+] button.
• You can record your performance and save it as an audio
file to the USB flash drive. (page 41)
