CHECKING THE PISTON RING

ton and piston ring as a set.
TIP
Insert the piston ring

in the cylinder, and
push it approximately 5 mm (0.2 in)

cylinder, and then check the piston ring end
gap. Push the ring with the piston crown so
that the ring is at an angle to the cylinder bore.

Check that the piston pin enters
smoothly into the piston pin hole.
TIP
If the piston pin fits too tight into the piston,
check the piston pin hole. If there is any pro-
trusion, use a knife or scraper to gently
remove it so that piston pin can be pushed in
smoothly with your fingers.
