3. Install:

• balancer shaft

NOTE:

• Align the punch mark

in the balancer

weight with the oil hole

in the upper crank-

case.

• Make sure that the front balancer gear teeth

and the primary drive gear teeth mesh cor-
rectly.

• Make sure that the slot

is facing in the

direction indicated in the illustration when
installing the balancer shaft.

4. Install:

• balancer lever

• balancer lever bolt

NOTE:

Temporarily tighten the balancer lever bolt.

5. Tighten:

• balancer shaft

NOTE:

Tighten the balancer shaft to the specified
torque by turning it counterclockwise, and then
turn it one scale back on the balancer lever
scale.

0.4 Nm (0.04 m · kg, 0.29 ft · lb)

6. Tighten:

• balancer lever bolt

• balancer shaft pinch bolt

NOTE:

Make sure that the balancer shaft does not
rotate.

14 Nm (1.4 m · kg, 10 ft · lb)

10 Nm (1.0 m · kg, 7.2 ft · lb)
