5.2 Ozone System Design
The ozone generating system consists of the ozone generator in which ozone is produced
from oxygenic gas, the converter in which the required medium voltage for ozone production
is generated, the system control, and the process, measuring and safety controls. The
system is mounted on self-supporting skids. In order to ease transport and installation, the
skid construction is split into two parts from type SMOevo 510 on. In this case, the complete
converter unit is mounted on one of these skids.
The ozone generator of the WEDECO ozone generating system
SMOevo series produces ozone from oxygen according to the
silent electrical discharge principle.

Gas flow
The feed gas pressure is reduced to the required operation
pressure of the ozone generator. While passing the ozone
generator, ozone is generated by applying electrical energy to the
feed gas. The generated ozonated process gas can then be fed to
the relevant application.
Coolant
The ozone generator must be cooled with water in order to reduce
the high temperature developing during the ozone generation
process.
