up to -10% of the voltage stated on the nameplates. Make
sure that the lifting station is suitable for the electricity sup-
ply available at the installation site.
The lifting stations require no additional motor protection.
Connect the units to the mains supply.
6. Installation
The operator has to prevent damage through the flood-
ing of rooms caused by defects of the pump through the
use of appropriate measures (e.g. installation of alarm
units, backup pump or the like).
Install the disposal unit SEKAMATIK 10E 5M horizontal on
an even floor. In order to allow a low noise operation, the
distance between the unit and the wall should be 0,5 cm
min.
To connect a sanitary unit (e.g. a shower) install a DN 40
discharge hose from the outlet of the sanitary unit to one of
the inlets of the box. Please pay attention that the outlet of
the sanitary unit should be minimum 12 cm above the floor,
respectively the lower edge of the SEKAMATIK 10E 5M to
get the required descent (1
–
3%).
(Pic.1) Remove the cap, which is screwed at the inlet and
take the black sealing ring and the white plastic ring out of
the cap.
(Pic.2) Put the nut (pos. A), the plastic ring (pos. B) and the
sealing ring (pos. C) onto the DN 40 discharge pipe as
shown above and put the pipe into the inlet of the tank, till it
meets the stroke. Connect the discharge pipe by screwing
the nut at the inlet device. The black sealing ring must be
between the nut and the inlet device.
Please do the same in case you want to install any addi-
tional sanitary units.
To connect a washing machine, please take care that the
waste water gets into the SEKAMATIK 10E 5M via a funnel
or an open tube with air trap in the opening on top of the
unit

(Pic.3) To connect a pressure hose, please fasten the
DN 25 pipe at the outlet bow, which is on the right at the
tank of the SEKAMATIK 10E 5M, with a clip.
Install the pressure hose upwards (best way: first vertically,
than horizontally) in a loop above the sewer level.
This will avoid that waste water will flow back into the tank
in case excess water (e.g. heavy rain) is in the sewer.
Install the pressure hose directly to the next main outlet.
Please check again all connections and make sure that it is
sealed.
Now connect the unit with the power supply and the unit is
ready for operation.
Furthermore please pay attention to the hints below.
Install the unit in that way that the operation and ser-
vice elements are easily accessible. Make sure that
there is enough space (approx. 50 cm) between the
horizontal inlet and any wall.
To prevent a freezing of the discharge pipe please iso-
late the complete discharge pipe up to the sewer level.
7. Start-Up
In combination with the flat switch the pump sarts and stops
according to the liquid level in the tank.
8. Maintenance and Repair
In case of a defect of the pump, a repair shall be car-
ried out only by the manufacturer or through an authorized
workshop. Modifications of the pump must be confirmed by
the manufacturer. Only XYLEM spare parts shall be used.
In accordance with the product liability law we point out
that we shall not be liable for damages caused by our
product due to unauthorized repair by persons other than
the manufacturer or an authorized workshop or due to the
use of spare parts other than original XYLEM parts. The
same product liability limitations are valid for accessories.
Before maintenance or repair disconnect the pump
from the power supply to avoid accidental starting of the
pump!
Before maintenance or repair make sure that all rotat-
ing parts stand still!
Before carrying out maintenance and service, the pump
must be thoroughly flushed with clean water. Rinse the
pump parts in clean water after dismanteling.
At pump types with oil chamber on overpressure can
escape with loosening of the oil chamber control screw.
Screw only when pressure balance took place.
Pumps running under normal operation conditions should
be inspected at least once a year. If the pumped liquid is
very muddy or sandy or if the pump is operating continu-
ously, the pump should be inspected every 1.000 operating
hours.
For long and trouble-free operation of the pump, following
points should be checked regularly:
- Nominal current (A): Check with amp-meter.
- Pump parts and impeller: Check for possible wear.
Replace defective parts.
- Ball bearings: Check the shaft for noisy or heavy opera-
tion (turn the shaft by hand). Replace defective ball
bearings. A general overhaul of the pump is usually re-
quired in case of defective ball bearings or poor motor
function. This work must be carried out by an authorized
service workshop.
- Cable entry: Make sure that the cable entry is water
tight and that the cables are not bent sharply and/or
pinched.
Additionally at pump types with oil chamber:
- Oil level and oil condition in oil chamber:
Put the pump in horizontal position, so that the screw of
the oil chamber is above (at larger pumps: one of both
screws). Remove the screw and infer a small quantity of
oil. The oil becomes greyish white like milk if it contains
water. This may be the result of defective shaft seal. In
this case leave the condition of the shaft seals by a
XYLEM Service to examine.
