Programming
The use of the VLC-605 unit with the AutoPulse Fire Alarm Control Panel requires configuration of the VLC
(8.1 and 8.2) and the panel (refer to sections 8.3 and 8.4). The VLC-605 detector is compatible with AutoPulse
Control Panel model. The VLC-605 device emulates the AutoPulse AMZ device on the addressable loop. The
VLC unit communicates with the AutoPulse control panel via the IDNet protocol.
8.1
VSC Configuration Utility
Programming of the VLC-605 is accomplished using the PC based Xtralis VSC configuration tool as
described below.
IMPORTANT
Connection of a PC to the VLC for purposes of configuration will cause the VLC-605 to halt all
communications with the AutoPulse Fire Alarm Control Panel. The VLC-605 will indicate this
situation by pulsing the front panel and remote LED. The fire panel will as a result indicate a “No
Answer” trouble for the VLC-605 being configured.
LED behaviour during configuration is the same as for a “No Answer“ trouble in normal operation. The event is
saved in the VLC’s event log for future reference.
When fire, flow and fault tests are initiated by VSC, a pop-up instruction to the operator will describe the
behavior of the LED during these tests. In particular, the instructions state that polling from the fire panel may
be observed due to blinking of the LED.
8.2
VLC-605 Configuration Requirements
This section assumes that the VLC-605 device has been mounted to an acceptable mounting surface and all
necessary device and system wiring has been carried out. The VLC-605 unit and AutoPulse control panel
should be powered and in a normal state before proceeding with the following steps.
a. Connect a PC running the Xtralis VSC software to the VLC-605 unit. Refer to Figure 6-4 for RS-232 (DB-
9) connector location.
b. Once connected with VSC running the following device configuration information can be viewed and set.
