Note: Print quality is optimized for specific paper colors. While a few examples are provided
here, a document is available which provides more details and examples. This document also
details the specific media for which the settings are optimized. For more information, refer to

• None : When printing using Composite RGB or Composite CMYK output, the printer does not apply
any color correction. This is considered as the PostScript pass through mode. To render the page,
the printer uses Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and White instead of Black.
• Use White Toner Only : Prints using white toner only, in reverse grayscale. This option replaces the
black areas in your document with white toner. The white areas of your document print with no
toner.
• Adjust for Gray Paper
– When printing using Composite RGB output, the printer underlays the output colors with
varying levels of white toner, depending on the required luminance levels. In this case, the
color of the unmarked paper is set to RGB [191 191 191]. Ensure that any areas of the paper
that have the no-toner value set to the RGB [191 191 191] value are in a vector shape. To
avoid discontinuities in bitmaps, a small amount of toner is applied to areas with this toner-
minimum value.
– When printing using Composite CMYK output, the printer underlays the output colors with
varying levels of white toner. When you use this setting with CMYK input, to obtain an output
where the paper is unmarked, set the CMYK values to [11/11/11/11] in a vector shape. To
avoid discontinuities in bitmaps, a small amount of toner is applied to areas with this toner-
minimum value.
• Adjust for White Paper : When you print using Composite RGB or Composite CMYK output, the
printer produces all the colors within the device gamut with a mix of Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow
colors. With this mode, the output is produced in a similar way to a standard print job, in that the
paper is not marked with background toner.
• Adjust for Black Paper

– When printing using Composite RGB output, the printer underlays the output colors with
varying levels of white toner, depending on the required luminance levels. For colors that are
darker than the paper color, CMY toner is applied with no white toner, to darken the output
beyond the black of the unmarked paper. Not using white is noticeable with RGB 0/0/0, which
applies a significant amount of CMY black-equivalent color to make the output as dark as
possible. The purpose of this process is to provide as extensive a color gamut as possible. In
this case, the color of the unmarked paper is set to be RGB 64/64/64. Ensure that any areas of
the paper that are not to receive any toner are set to that RGB [64/64/64] value in a vector
shape. Ensure that any areas of the paper that have the no-toner value set, are set to the RGB
[64/64/64] value are in a vector shape. To avoid discontinuities in bitmaps, a small amount of
toner is applied to areas with this toner-minimum value. To use the paper itself as the
background, set the background of your document to this no-toner value, or in the print driver,
use the default Automatic Background setting.
– When printing using Composite CMYK output, the printer underlays the output colors with
varying levels of white toner. For colors that are darker than the black color of the media, the
printer creates a composite CMY with no white toner underlay. For CMYK output, the
unmarked paper is set at CMYK [0 0 0 100]. Ensure that any areas of the paper that have the
