Appendix A: Quick Start

For experienced ISE users needing only a summary of configuration procedures, this appendix briefly 
describes the steps to set up an ISE using the Web Management Interface (Web-Mgt). For a detailed guide, 
refer to “Initializing ISE” on page 41.

Quickstarting the ISE is detailed in the following sections:

Connect

This section briefly describes the steps to connect to the ISE Web-Mgt through a Web browser. For more detail 
on this process, see “Terminology” on page 30.
1. Obtain the IP addresses or the host names of the Managed Reliability Controllers (MRCs) in the ISE from

the site network administrator.

2. Ensure that power is applied to the ISE by confirming that the green LEDs on the power supplies are illumi-

nated (see Figure 32 on page 37 and Table 24 on page 102). If the green LEDs are unlit, confirm that the
power connections at the rear of the ISE are good and that the power switches are in the 

ON

 position.

Once power is on, wait five minutes before proceeding (see Figure 32 on page 37).

3. Open a Web browser on any server attached to the storage network.

4. Link to one of the ISE MRC IP addresses (or host name), and the Login panel opens.

5. Click

 LOGIN

.

The System Authentication dialog appears.

6. Log in with the default user name (

administrator

) and password. For a first-time login, the default password

is 

administrator

.

First-Time Login

The first time an ISE is powered on, the factory-installed firmware must be upgraded to a current level and the 
storage requires configuration. After initialization, if a firmware upgrade is available, apply the upgrade.
