6 Commissioning and operation
6.1 Important notes

The brakes are dimensioned in such a way that the specified rated torques are reached safely after a
short run-in period.
❚
Increased breakaway torque is common, in particular after long downtimes in humid environments
where temperatures vary.
❚
Before the initial commissioning, check the braking torque when the brake is being used on the custom-
er's friction surfaces.
❚
If the brake is used as a pure holding brake without any dynamic load, the friction lining must be reacti-
vated regularly by implementing the friction work.
6.2 Function checks before commissioning
6.2.1 Functional checks

The live connections and the rotating rotor must not be touched.

The drive must not be running when checking the brake.

The brake must be free of residual torque. The motor must not run!
