5.4 Using Parental Control
“Parental Control” allows you to block programs that you feel are inappropriate for your
viewing audience such as programs containing violence, adult language and nudity.
There are two rating systems: MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) and TV PG
Rating (TV Parental Guidelines).
NOTE:
Parental controls only function if the television service provider (cable or antenna) broadcasts
programming with MPAA and TV PG ratings. Contact your local service provider for availability.
MPAA
The MPAA rates most movies including those shown on TV and in the theater.

Description
G
General audiences. All ages admitted.
PG
Parental Guidance suggested. Some material may not be suitable for children.
PG-13
Parents strongly cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
R
Restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian (age varies in some
jurisdictions).
NC-17
No one 17 and under admitted.
X
A rating that has now been superseded by NC-17.
TV PG Rating
The TV PG rates most television programs.
