The Peristaltic Pump Process
Fluid is contained within a flexible tube, which is placed in the precision pump head. The center rotor, with
a number of rollers, compresses the flexible tube. As the rotor turns, the part of tube under compression
closes and forces the fluid to be pumped to move through the tube. After the roller passes, the tube
opens to its natural state and fluid flow is induced to the tubing. This process is called peristalsis. The
pump has no contact with the fluid being transferred.
