5. To switch of the unit, push the ON/OFF switch in direction OFF and turn
the gas volume control switch to the setting 1.
Attention Risk of burns
After long operation time the ignition nozzle becomes very hot. Do not
touch it.
Using as a Torch
For shrinking, e. g. heat shrinking tubes, use the gas soldering iron with
soldering attachment but without soldering tip.
1. Turn the gas volume control switch (9) to the setting 1 – 2.
2. Ignite the gas soldering iron with fire and turn the gas volume control
switch (9) to the setting 4.
3. Push the knurled screw (6) forward in order to make the flame bigger but
less intensive.
4. For shrinking, keep the flame in low distance to the tube and move the gas
soldering iron in and out, to avoid damaging the tube. To avoid warping
only shrink from the middle of the tube to the outside
You can also use the gas soldering iron as a flamé for caramelizing food in
the kitchen.
Cleaning
ƒ
Do not immerse in water, only use a moistened cloth and never use
aggressive chemicals or similar substances.
ƒ Keep the soldering tip tinned for a long service life.
ƒ Regularly clean dirty soldering tips with a wet soldering sponge while hot.
Or with soldering tip cleaner with stand (Art. No. 50 01 40).
ƒ If the soldering tip becomes corroded and does not take the solder
properly, clean oxidation with fine emery paper (600 - 800 grid). After
cleaning the soldering tip must be tinned again. Wrap some solder with
included flux around the cold tip and heat the tip until the solder melts. It
can be helpful to use some colophony.
