Taking Measurements
3. The sensor (7) is situated on top of the multimeter. If you
place the multimeter close to a wall socket or a conductor
while pressing the function button (8), you will hear a signal
sound, the symbol appears on the display and the indica-
tion light (2) turns on. In this case the wall socket or the con-
ductor is live. With this function you can also detect the loca-
tion of flush-mounted cables in order to avoid drilling the
cables.
Hint
You can also use the non-contact voltage detector if the rotary
function switch is not in the OFF position.
Battery Voltage Test
With this function you can check the battery voltage of 1.5 V and
9 V batteries.
Procedure
1. Set the rotary function switch in the position 1.5 V or 9 V
BATT.
2. To measure the voltage of a 1.5 V battery, connect the red
probe to the “mA/µA/BATT1.5V“ input (10) and insert the
black probe to the COM input (6). Connect the red probe to
the plus pole and the black to the minus pole of the battery.
See the measured voltage on the display.
3. To measure the voltage of a 9 V battery, first connect the red
probe to the “V/
Ω
/
/BATT9V“ input (5) and the black probe
to the COM input (6). Connect the red probe to the plus pole
and the black to the minus pole of the battery. See the
measured voltage on the display.
4. If the minus symbol appears on the display, the battery
polarity is interchanged.
