External Connections

Making the electrical connections to the Varian oil-filled roughing

pump

Roughing pump connections:

To make the electrical connections to the oil-filled roughing pump:

1. Connect the roughing pump power cord to the main power source.

2. Connect the relay cable from the roughing pump d.c. connector to the

backing pump control connector on the mass spectrometer’s rear panel.

Tip:

Use the higher of the two connectors. The lower connector is for

delayed backing pump control.
