9. MEASURING THE LIGHTING STRENGTH
In case of hot light sources (e.g. halogen lamps), ensure enough safety distance. The emitted heat
may otherwise cause measuring faults.
The light sensor contains a filter that lets only light visible to the human eye through. The measured values are not
falsified by this.
An opaque protection cap (23) is pushed onto the sensor. It is used to protect the sensor and to check the zero
point.
Proceed as follows for measuring:
- Put the protection cap (23) onto the sensor (22).
- Open the lateral cover and connect the plug of the light sensor (22) to the
round measuring socket (13).
- Switch on the meter by pushing the operating button (8).
- The meter always is in sound level measuring function “dBA” after activa-
tion. Push the button MODE (9) 2x until the measuring range “Lux” is
displayed.
- Check the display with the protection cap (23) put on. It must display
000.0 Lux. If this is not the case, check the correct seat of the protection
cap again. If 000.0 Lux is not displayed, the sensor is probably defective
and must be replaced.
- Take off the protection cap and point the sensor (white hemisphere) right
at the light source.
- The display shows the measured lighting strength in “Lux” or “kLux”.
- To switch the measuring unit, push the button “UNITS” (7). Every push
switches the unit from “Lux” to “Fc” (“Foot Candle”) and vice versa.
- After completion of the measurement, switch the meter off again by push-
ing the operating button. Remove the sensor and close the lateral cover.
