c) Switching on/off
• Briefly press the button
(4)
to switch the measurement device on or off.
• When you switch it on, all elements will appear on the LCD display
(5)
for a few seconds.
The measured value is then displayed.
• The measuring device switches off automatically after approximately 5 minutes of inactivity.
d) Calibration
This measuring device does not need to be calibrated. However, the measurement probe
(7)
can be tested for normal functionality using a special ORP solution.
e) Making measurements
1. Remove the probe cap
(8)
.
2. Press the button
(4)
to switch on the measurement device.
3. Dip the tip of the measuring probe
(7)
approx. 2 - 3 cm into the liquid that you want to
measure. It may take a while for the measurement to stabilize. Read the measurement on
the LCD display
(5)
.
4. If the measured value is outside of the measurement range, "----" will appear on the LCD
display.
5. Rinse the measurement probe with distilled water after use.
f) Changing the measurement probe (7)
1. Loosen the screw cap
(3)
in a clockwise direction.
2. Remove the used/damaged probe
(7)
from the measuring device.
3. Attach the new probe to the meter.
4. Turn the screw cap anticlockwise until it is securely in place.
Care and cleaning
a) General cleaning
• This product does not require any maintenance, except for changing the batteries and
cleaning the measurement probes. Do not attempt to disassemble the product (except for
the actions described in these instructions, such as changing the measurement probes).
• Clean the product carefully using a soft, clean cloth. Do not press too hard on the display,
as this may result in scratch marks or damage its function.
• Only use distilled water (e.g. deionized water) to clean the measurement probes. Using
other liquids may affect the measurements. Only use paper towels to dry the measurement
probes.
• Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these
may damage the casing or cause the product to malfunction.
b) Cleaning and polishing the sensor
If the measurements start to become inaccurate, follow the steps below to clean the sensor:
• Remove the sensor cap
(1)
.
• Moisten the sand paper with some water.
• Turn over the measuring device.
• Using the pressure of your thumb, rub the platinum electrode with the wet sand paper about
10 times in order to polish it.
• Replace the sensor cap and rinse everything with clean, distilled water.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be placed in household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statu-
tory regulations.
Remove any inserted batteries and dispose of them separately from the product.
b) Batteries
You are required by law to return all used batteries (Battery Directive). They must not
be placed in household waste.
Batteries that contain hazardous substances are labelled with this symbol to indicate
that disposal in domestic waste is forbidden. The abbreviations for heavy metals in
batteries are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (indicated on the battery,
e.g. below the waste icon on the left).
Used batteries can be returned free of charge to local collection points, our stores or battery
retailers.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to environmental protection.
