Introduction

 

The following information applies to models with an electronic

parking brake. If your vehicle is equipped with a parking brake lever,

see

Setting the electronic parking brake

You can engage the electronic parking brake any time the vehicle is

not moving - even if the ignition is switched off. Always engage the

parking brake when you leave or park the vehicle.

Pull and hold the 

 

switch

 .

The parking brake is engaged when the yellow indicator light in

the switch 

 → Fig. 144

  (arrow) and the red indicator light in the

instrument cluster

  light up.

Releasing the electronic parking brake

Switch the ignition on.

Press the 

 

switch 

 → Fig. 144

 . At the same time, press the

brake pedal firmly or press the accelerator pedal lightly if the

engine is running.
