DATA FILER
The user fields available are the following:
o
Floppy Disk
or
Memory
: selectable using the [F2] function key – this field allows
the user to define the memory unit to be Sorted, with the aid of the encoder.
o
By Name
or
By Size
: [F3] – sets the way in which the files are to be arranged, i.e.
in alphabetical order (By Name) or by size.
o
Ascending
or
Descending
: [F4] – sets whether the files are to be sorted in
ascending or descending order.
After having set all the parameters required, press the [ENTER] key: the Genius will sort the
files contained in the selected unit and memorise the modifications. Pressing the [ESC] key
will abort the operation and the display will return to the main video page of the Disk menu.
If the procedure is confirmed, during performance of the Sorting procedure the display will
show:

pending completion of the operation.
If you have confirmed the floppy disk quick formatting procedure but there is no disk in the
drive, the display will signal that there is no disk present by displaying: DISK NOT IN DRIVE!
The same error will be displayed if a Quick Format is attempted on a “virgin” floppy disk.
If the floppy disk has write protection, the display will show: DISK Write Protected! In both
cases, the procedure concerned will be abandoned immediately.
8.1.3 FILE SORT
The FILE SORT function allows the files in a given unit, whether floppy disk or internal memory,
to be arranged in a way decided by the user.
From the DISK menu, select the
FILE SORT
menu using key [F3]; the display will show the
