Queries - these are requests to provide details of how parameters are currently
configured.



Configurations - these are requests to change an existing parameter or add a
new one to a table.

Both queries and configurations must be preceded with either the unit's assigned node
name or the term 'nodename', and must conform to the correct syntax. (Use the

System menu

to find the node name of your unit if you are unsure.)

(For changes made to parameters on slots other than 0, the text preceding the
operation must be nodename:slotnumber.)

Note: You will need to consult a User Manual supplement for a list of current TTY

commands. Typing

help

<Enter> at the '>' prompt will bring the full list up.

If you want to save the results from your queries as a text file (for example to save the
list of current TTY commands returned by the help command):



If you are using HyperTerminal: Choose the

Transfer > Capture Text

option,

specify a location to save the resulting text file and press

Start

. End the capture

by choosing

Transfer > Capture Text > Stop

.



If you are using PuTTYtel: Choose the

Logging

tab and check Session Logging:

'Printable Output'. Specify a name and location to save the resulting text file.
Return to the

Session

tab and press

Save

. Then start your session as usual. End

the capture by closing your session. Reverse your setup changes by checking
Session Logging: 'None'. Return to the

Session

tab and press

Save

. Then restart

your session as usual.

Queries can contain only partial lists of the keywords that make up the command
syntax, and must contain a '?' at the end of the operation. For example:

nodename system ?

will return the contents of the system portion of the

configuration.

nodename ?

returns the complete configuration.

Configurations must contain the complete syntax that makes up the command. Once
configuration changes are complete, the

nodename u

<Enter>

command must be

issued to request the unit save that configuration change.

Commands are not case-sensitive. All commands are converted to upper case. The
parameters of the command are delimited by an ASCII space character. The same
command syntax is used in a batch file. If required, a # character can be used at the
start of any line in a batch file to indicate that the text following is a comment, and not
a valid command.

If the unit fails to respond (or hangs) at any stage, type

<Ctrl><E>

to clear.
