ASSEMBLING THE ROOF TRUSSES
EACH ROOF TRUSS IS MADE UP OF THREE PIECES, TWO 2x6 RAFTERS (DC 1664) AND
ONE RAFTER GUSSET. THE GUSSET CREATES THE EXTENSION AT THE PEAK OF THE
ROOF AS WELL AS SECURES THE TWO RAFTERS TO EACH OTHER. THERE ARE SIX
TRUSSES THAT ARE NEEDED TO BE BUILT,
ONE LEFT
ONE RIGHT
AND
FOUR MIDDLE
.
PLACE THE GUSSETS OVER THE RAFTERS AND MATCH UP THE POINTS AND EDGES OF
THE RAFTERS AS SHOWN AND DESCRIBED IN
THE DETAIL DRAWINGS BELOW
. ATTACH
THE GUSSET TO THE TWO RAFTERS WITH 1 1/2" SCREWS THROUGH THE PLYWOOD
INTO THE FACE OF THE EACH RAFTER.
BEGIN ASSEMBLY OF EACH TRUSS WITH RIGHT SIDE. SLIDE RAFTER
FROM THE RIGHT SIDE AS SHOWN IN
DETAIL ONE
. ALIGN THE
RAFTER SO THE TOP PEAK MATCHES UP PERFECTLY WITH
POINT "A"
AND ALIGNS FLUSH ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM EDGES OF THE
RAFTER GUSSET AS SHOWN IN
DETAIL TWO
. ATTACH THE GUSSET
TO THE RAFTER WITH 1 1/2" SCREWS.
1 1/2" ROBERTSON SCREWS

ALL SCREWS MUST BE FASTENED TO
ENSURE THE STRENGTH OF THE ROOF.
SLIDE THE SECOND RAFTER IN AS SHOWN IN
DETAIL THREE

PLACE THE RAFTER SO TOP PEAK OF THE RAFTER MATCHES UP
PERFECTLY WITH
POINT "A"
AND IS TIGHT TO THE GUSSET AT
POINT "B"
AND TIGHT TO THE OPPOSITE RAFTER AT
POINT "C"
.
ONCE THE RAFTER IS IN PLACE SECURE WITH 1 1/2" SCREWS.
ATTACH THE PLYWOOD GUSSET THE MID GUSSET (DC 1669)
USING 1 1/2" SCREWS AS SHOWN IN
