4. Circuit Description
4.1. Overview
The SiS 328MX is a high-integration HDTV processor targeted at mid-high range HDTV systems,
supporting both Standard Definition and High Definition reception and presentation. The SiS
328MX integrates a NTSC/PAL decoder with 3D Comb filter, a Multi-standard ATV sound
decoder, a Transport Stream DeMux & a high definition MPEGII decoder, an Embedded audio
processor with 24 bit Audio codec, a 170MHz Triple ADC, a HDMI 1.3 compliance receiver with
CEC capability, and the 6th generation Digital Native Video Engine (DNVE) that ensures
extraordinarily picturesque capability. Besides, two USB 2.0 ports, the associated host controller,
and the H/W accelerated JPEG decoding is integrated mainly to support flash-drive
photo-viewing.
The integrated 6th Generation DNVE features a 3D Noise Reduction, a 3D Motion Adaptive
De-interlace, a Linear & Panoramic Scalar, a LTI/CTI & B/W Extension, a Dynamic Contrast
Enhancement, flesh-tone Correction, & Six Favorite Color Stretchers.
In SiS 328MX, various ratioed analog multiplexers are placed in front of the audio ADC, the
analog 54MHz ADC, the 170MHz triple video ADC, and the HDMI 1.3 receiver, respectively to
minimize the deployment of the external components. The audio ADC thus supports 5 Stereo
Line-in inputs. The analog 54 MHz ADC supports two S-video inputs, two AV inputs, and one
CVBS output. The 170MHz Triple ADC supports two component inputs and one VGA input, or
vice versa. And the HDMI 1.3 receiver supports two HDMI ports. Besides, the low power
head-phone amplifier is integrated to eliminate the need of an external amplifier.
The SiS 328MX integrates two independent 16 bit DDRII-800 memory controllers, offering
various configurations optimized for various applications. In the Extreme Compact DRAM mode,
the SiS 328MX still can support one Full HD input, and one 1080p Full HD output with only ONE
piece of the 32Mx16 bit DDRII-800 part, which minimizes the DRAM complex, and thus
significantly contributes to further down the BOM in addition to the high integration architecture.
As illustrated in figure 1, external components to constitute an affordable Full HD DTV system
based on SiS 316MX thus comprise only a demodulator, a larger-power audio amplifier driving
speaker, one piece of 32MX16 bit DDRII-800, one 4 MB code-flash, and one 512KB Data-flash.
