Component Identification
Ignition Switch
The ignition key operates the ignition switch and parking lights. The ignition switch provides
electrical power to the ignition, the lighting system and all electrical switches and buttons.
Before starting the engine, read the instructions for starting the engine. See page 43.
Engine Off
In the OFF position, all electrical circuits are
inactive and the ignition key can be removed.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and
remove the ignition key when leaving the motor-
cycle unattended.
Engine On/All Lights On
In the ON position, all electrical circuits are ener-
gized and the ignition key cannot be removed.
The headlamp, taillight, and instrument lights
illuminate. The engine stop/run switch must be in
the RUN position to start the engine or activate
the emergency flashers, turn signals and other
electrical features. See page 29.
Parking Lights On
In the PARKING LIGHTS ON position, the taillight, indicator lights, and license plate light
illuminate. The emergency flashers can be activated, and the ignition key can be removed.
