X935 Rev 500 V894CSH/V894WSH High-Security Cameras
Installation
Unpacking and Inspection
All Vicon equipment is inspected and tested before leaving the factory. It is the carrier’s responsibility to deliver
the equipment in the same condition in which it left the factory.
Inspection for Visible Damage
Immediately inspect the cartons upon delivery. On all copies of the carrier’s freight bill, make a note of any
visible damage.
Make sure the carrier’s agent (the person making the delivery) signs the note on all copies of the bill. If the
agent does not have claim forms, contact the carrier’s office.
Inspection for Concealed Damage
As soon as possible after delivery, unpack the unit and inspect it for concealed damage. Do not discard the
carton or packing materials. If the unit is damaged, contact the carrier immediately and request forms for filing
a damage claim. Make arrangements for a representative of the carrier to inspect the damaged equipment.
If the equipment must be returned for repair, follow the Shipping Instructions at the end of this document.
Physical Installation
The V894CSH is designed to fit into a corner where two walls and a ceiling meet. It may be fastened to either
or both walls or to the walls and the ceiling. The V894WSH is designed for wall mounting. Refer to Figure 1.
Cable access is provided on one side.
The camera requires no adjustments, although it may be tilted slightly
to give a higher or lower angle of view.
Before beginning installation, read the Coaxial Cable Recommendations below and verify that the accessory
pack contains the items listed in Table 2.
Coaxial Cable Recommendations
Using the correct coaxial cable is critical for proper system operation. The cable must meet these
requirements: (1) 75-ohm impedance; (2) pure copper center conductor; (3) pure copper braid shield with a
minimum of 95% coverage; (4) polyethylene dielectric. Do not use cable with steel, copper-plated steel, or
aluminum center conductor or aluminum shield. If the cable is connected to a camera on a pan-and-tilt, use a
multistrand center conductor. Other cable properties, such as outer jacket material, will be determined by the
physical requirements of the installation.
