Danger to life due to bent fork arms!
– Check the fork arms for deformation on a regular basis.
– Never use fork arms that exceed the maximum permissible bend.
Bent fork arms are a sign of overloading or material fatigue. If the maximum per-
missible bend kmax is exceeded, the specified nominal load capacity of the fork
arm is no longer ensured. This could (e.g., due to breakage) cause the load to
fall and result in serious accidents.

1.
Calculate the maximum permissible bend kmax. To do so, divide blade length L
(in inches) by 66:
(kmax = L[inches] / 66)
2.
Move the fork arm to a comfortable working height.
3.
Place the ruler flush from the base of the blade to the fork tip.
