5. If the UPS is equipped with internal batteries, make sure that they have been isolated from the UPS (see Figure 3-3)
before carrying out maintenance work on it. If the UPS is equipped with external batteries, simply disconnect the
external battery switches.
Warning
1. If maintenance is required, wait 10 minutes for the internal DC bus capacitors to discharge.
2. Hazardous voltages may be present on some parts of the UPS, even when the main input switch, bypass input switch and
battery switch are disconnected. Therefore, UPS maintenance should be carried out by qualified personnel only.
5.3.5
Transfer From Maintenance Bypass Mode To Normal Mode
Following UPS maintenance operations, the following procedures may be used to transfer the load from the
maintenance bypass to the inverter.
1. 1. If the UPS is equipped with internal batteries, wear arc protection gloves when connecting the battery terminals, as
shown in Figure 3-3. If the UPS is equipped with external batteries, simply close the external battery switches.
2. Push the maintenance bypass switch Q3 baffle up as far as it will go, and then secure it in this position.
3. Close the output switch Q5, main input switch Q1 and bypass input switch Q2, in that order. Confirm that the LCD is
on and that the UPS is running in Bypass mode.
4. Once the LCD start-up is complete, ensure that the system is in Bypass mode. Set the maintenance bypass switch
Q3 to off. Return the Q3 baffle to its original position, and then tighten the fastening screws.
5. Press the power button on the UPS operator and display panel so that it switches to Inverter mode.
Warning
It is important to close the bypass switch before opening the maintenance bypass switch; otherwise the power supply to the load
will be interrupted.

Battery Test Procedures
The battery test function is disabled by default. If you wish to use this function, please contact the the Vertiv customer
service engineer.
Battery test type and preconditions
1. There are two different battery tests to choose from:
Battery maintenance test: this test verifies the integrity of the battery and results in it being partially discharged
(20%).
Battery capacity test: this test determines the exact capacity of the battery and results in it being fully
discharged (until the Battery low pre-warning alarm is generated)
2. The tests may be initiated by the operator via the UPS operator control and display panel, provided the following
conditions are satisfied:
The load must be greater than 5% of the nominal rated UPS capacity and must be stable (for battery
maintenance test)
The load must be greater than 80% of the nominal rated UPS capacity and must be stable (for battery capacity
test)
The battery must have been in float charge for 5 hours or more before battery capacity test
The battery test procedures are password controlled and menu driven. The test is aborted immediately in the event of
a battery or a mains failure and the total load power is supplied by the remaining source, without interruptions.
Test procedure
1. Access the Maintenance page via the main menu screen (see Figure 4-10) on the UPS operator control and display
panel.
