The EBX-18 enables you to operate the board without a battery for applications when no battery
is required. Note that using this setting will delay the board boot after power on for
approximately 5 seconds. This is an application requirement to give the RTC crystal time to start
up.

To operate the board without the Lithium battery, perform the following steps:
1.
Power down the EBX-18.
2.
Remove the battery connection to the SoC RTC well. This is done by removing the
battery from its socket, or by removing the V13 jumper leaving pins 1 and 2 unconnected
if you want to keep the battery with the product. (You can store the V13 jumper in its
default position connected only to pin 1.)
3.
Set the V14 jumper to pins 1-2. (Always make sure the battery is disconnected when this
jumper setting is used or it will drain the battery and delay booting of the board.)
4.
Power up the EBX-18. The board takes approximately five seconds to begin the boot
sequence after the power switch is turned on when the battery is not in use. This delay is
necessary for the RTC crystal operation to stabilize before the board reset is released.
