7.0 System Maintenance
The alarm system must be tested regularly to guarantee its optimum performance, this is done by testing all detection
devices including PIRs and door contacts, wired, or wireless devices, this is known as “walk testing”
7.1 Testing.
Test the System Once every three months:
7.1.1 Testing all Intruder detection devices.
Walk in front of each PIR and confirm the control unit responds with the correct zone number shown on thedisplay,
now open each door or window protected with a magnetic door contact and again verify the correct zone number
shows on the display.
See section 4.6 on how to access walk test mode from the control unit.
Wireless detection devices display
“
0 1, 02, 0 3, …… , 1 6
“
Wired detection devices display
“
D 1, D 2, D 3, D 4
”
7.1.2 Testing siren & strobe.
Activate the system sounders ensure the both internal and external sounders activate, then activate the external
strobe and verify it operates. See section 4.5 on how to test the sounder / strobe from the control unit.
.1.3 Testing Remote PA Devices.
Ensure the system in “unset / day” mode, activate the remote PA device by pressing
F
+
P
yes on the remote control
together to generate a personal attack activation, the external sounder / strobe and internal sounder should be
activated and the control unit should display “
P A
“, If any automated signalling equipment is connected it will also be
activated and should send a PA signal. To silence the alarm and return to “day / unset“ mode enter user or secondary
user then press “
RESET” . This procedure should be repeated for each remote PA device. If silent
PA option has been enabled via engineer programming then only the external strobe will flash and automated
signalling equipment (if connected) will be activated.
7.2 Battery replacement.
Ensure all batteries in the system are replaced regularly as detailed below.
It may be necessary to obtain a maintenance contract from the system installer.
Once per year:
Ensure all batteries in wireless detectors are replaced.
Every four years :
Ensure the rechargeable battery in the control unit is replaced.
Note: Ensure all batteries are of known companies for optimum performance of the alarm system.
