Chapter 5. Client-Side Configuration
5.1. Overview
In this chapter, we explain how to configure your PAX, once the server-side configuration has been completed
(see
Chapter 4, Server-Side Configuration
). Topics covered in this chapter include:
• The Factory Default Settings of the PAX.
• PAX Administrator Tool Access levels.
• Installation instructions that explain how to prepare the PAX, so that it can automatically download its
configuration from the corporate aXsGUARD Gatekeeper and start a VPN connection.
5.2. Factory Default Settings
To download its configuration settings, the PAX must successfully connect to the corporate aXsGUARD
Gatekeeper. Prior to the initial connection, the factory default settings (as listed in the table below) apply.

Dedicated software is installed on the PAX. To prevent tampering, the reset button on the back of the
appliance is protected by a seal. Do not remove this seal, as it voids the warranty of the appliance.
Breaking the seal and pressing the reset button permanently damages the dedicated software. If this
occurs, contact your sales representative to obtain a replacement.
5.3. Administrator Tool Access Levels
To administer the PAX, you must use an Internet browser (see
Table 5.1, “PAX Factory Default Settings”
).
The access levels of the user accounts are explainend in the table below.

Provides administrative access without any restrictions.

Allows the user to reboot his / her PAX, start and stop the VPN connection.
