4.13 Virtual Server
By default, the Device blocks all the requests initiated from outside users. In some cases, the
outside users want to access the LAN internal servers through the Device. To achieve this purpose,
you need to create virtual server rules.
Virtual server allows you to create the mapping between <external IP address: external port> and
<internal IP address: internal port>, then all the requests from outside users to the specified
external IP address: port on the Device will be forwarded to the mapped internal server, so the
outside users can access the service offered by the server.
Virtual Server entries take priority over the DMZ host. When receiving a request packet initiated
from an outside user, the Device will first search the
Virtual Server List
to find out if there is a port
forwarding entry matching the destination IP address and port of the packet. If a match is found, the
Device will forward the packet to the mapped local computer. Else, the Device will try to find out if
there is an available DMZ host.
