User instructions for expander tool
Please read carefully before using the tool.
1 General
The tool must not be used for any other pur-
pose than that for which it has been design-
ed, i.e. to repeatedly expand Wirsbo-PEX
pipe together with a Q&E ring fitted to its out-
side, so that the pipe can be fitted onto the
fitting nipple in order to achieve a watertight
joint when the pipe and ring shrink back.
2 Special instructions
2.1 Apply only hand effort to the pliers.
2.2 Don’t change the properties or form of
the tool.
It is particularly important not to change
the shape or size of the cone by machi-
ning it or by altering its original properties,
hardness, strength, etc. by heating the
tool or keeping it in the vicinity of high-
temperature heat sour-ces.
2.3 Use the pliers only for their intended
purpose. Don’t attempt to expand other
pipe types (including other plastic pipes)
than Wirsbo-PEX pipe.
2.4 Use the tool correctly. Take particular
care to screw the expander head right
down onto the pliers in order to achieve
full expansion. Make sure that the tool
jaws are inserted straight into the pipe.
2.5 Use only correct tool components. Keep
the expander surfaces clean and free
from oil/grease.
2.6 Keep yourself in good balance when
working. Don’t use the pliers to steady
yourself.
2.7 Use only genuine expander heads for
the pliers.
2.8 Regularly clean the cone of the pliers
and the inside of the jaws, and apply a
thin coat of grease to the cone.
Use only grease supplied or recom-
mended by us. This is important to the
useful life of the tool and for reducing the
friction, i.e. the effort needed at the
handles.
3 Safety instructions
3.1 The connection point must be easily
accessible.
3.2 Contact with live electrical parts must be
avoided.
3.3 Keep children away from the work area.
3.4 Use suitable working clothes and shoes.
3.5 Never use, carry or put away the pliers
without the expander head fitted. This is
intended to avoid
• injuring someone
• damaging the cone if the tool is drop-
ped
• accumulations of dust between the
cone and the inside of the jaws, which
would cause abnormal wear or incorrect
expansion.

4.2 Harmful properties
Long-duration contact may lead to skin
irritation.
4.3 First aid
Skin: -
Eyes: Rinse with an abundant supply of
water. If irritation continues, consult a
doctor.
Inhaling: -
Swallowing: Don’t induce vomiting. Con-
sult a doctor.
4.4 In the event of fire
Extinguishing medium: Carbon dioxide,
foam, powder or fine water mist.
Special action during fire-fighting: A full
mask must be worn by the fire-fighter.
4.5 Action in the event of spillage or in-
advertent discharge
Personal protective measures: Bear in
mind the risk of slipping
Clearance methods: Scrape together,
collect and dispose of the spillage in
accordance with the regulations.
4.6 Handling and storage
Preventive measures during use: Good
ventilation. Avoid contact with the skin
and eyes. Use protective gloves.
Storage: No special measures are need-
ed.

Failure to observe the above user instructions
when working with the Wirsbo tool may cause
injuries to the user and to persons in the
vicinity, and/or may lead to incorrect fitting.
The supplier disclaims all liability if these
