6. No smoke alarms should be installed here
• In an environment where there is a high risk of draughts (e.g. in the vicinity of air conditioning systems,
fans and ventilation outlets). The movement of air can impair the penetration of fire smoke into the
smoke alarm.
• Areas, such as kitchens, where combustion processes take place continuously.
• Areas with high humidity such as bathrooms, or near appliances such as dishwashers or washing
machines.
7. Activation
Before you put the smoke alarm into operation, it is important to activate it and
check that it is working properly. There is a black switch on the back of the smoke
alarm. Please switch this from “OFF” to “ON” first before mounting or testing
the smoke alarm.
• Press the test button and hold it for approx. 3 seconds until the LED indicator
lights up. Release the test button immediately afterwards. The smoke alarm will
beep to indicate that it is activated.
• Test that the smoke alarm is correctly activated by pressing the test button. In the correct activation
mode, 3 beeps are heard and the LED flashes 3 times. If no sound is produced, the smoke alarm is not
properly activated and must not be used.
To protect your hearing, the volume of the first nine beeps is set to a “normal volume”. Only then will you
hear a loud alarm signal.
8. Assembly
• Place the mounting plate at the desired installation location and mark the
positions for the drill holes.
• Drill two holes with a diameter of 5 millimetres.
• Press the plastic dowels into the holes.
• Place the screws in the mounting plate and tighten them in the dowels.
• Place the smoke alarm on the mounting bracket and fix it by rotating it
clockwise.
• To fix the smoke alarm, insert the fixing bolt into the hole between
the mounting plate and the smoke alarm.
• Check that the smoke alarm is functioning correctly by pressing the test
button. If no sound is produced, the smoke alarm is not functioning properly
and must not be used!
9. Alarm muting
If the smoke alarm has detected smoke and switched to alarm mode, you can mute the alarm
for a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes by pressing the test button. The smoke alarm
then resets automatically and returns to normal operating mode. If there are still smoke particles in the air,
the smoke alarm switches back to alarm mode.
WARNING NOTICE:
Before muting the alarm, the cause
of the alarm must always be identified to ensure that there is no dangerous situation.
