In some cases, electrical noise is emitted from other equipment in the vicinity (constant temperature
bath, air conditioning, oven etc.). Interference of this type will often be periodic, e.g. noise emitted
when equipment is switching on or off. If such problems occur, try switching nearby equipment off
one by one, to identify which equipment is generating the noise.
Alternatively, move the setup temporarily to another location, e.g. an office, and test the equipment
here to see if noise problems have changed.
